I had the honor of being a guest on a Fire Press Radio podcast with missionary and author Steve Bremner. Join our conversation as we walk through places in my book Heartstone: A Journey Out of the Midnight of My Soul and some things I learned from life’s struggles.
As I was reflecting on my journey, I thought to myself, can God take the clutter of our lives, with everything seemingly stacked against it and redeem it?
Here are some of the topics that Steve and I discuss.
- Why I wrote Heartstone
- Navigating the self publishing space and social networks
- What is the Heartstone and the symbolism of stones in this story
- Walked through some excerpts
- Living a transparent life
- What is intimacy with God
- Shared some of my struggles
There is an incredible, deep intimacy that we can have with our Heavenly Father that is indescribable, but we somehow convince ourselves that He is holding out on us or that there is something better, and we conform to the darkness and patterns of this lost and broken world. We become tangled up in all our own cares, which becomes such a lonely affair; we close our eyes and let everything good and true pass by; and we become more and more numb. We seem to always stumble on this journey of life because we continue to consume endless head knowledge and feed off the wisdom of this world. Most of us actually hide behind bitterness and hatred to numb our painful sorrows.
