I had the honor of being a guest on Purposeful Pathways Radio with Caroline Gavin; Christian business coach, speaker, author and radio host. Join our conversation as we walk through places in my book Heartstone: A Journey Out of the Midnight of My Soul and some things I learned from life’s struggles.
Join me as I share my journey in Jesus…and how to live courageously from the heart!
Here are some of the topics that Caroline and I discuss.
- Shame
- Our hiding places
- Lies of the enemy
- Remembering who you are
- How to Live Courageously from the Heart
Shame strips you of your life’s message!
We get stuck in these life patterns because we are afraid of what would happen if we actually exposed the stuff that we are hiding. Finding the courage to come out of hiding is the very step we need to take to begin to truly discover who we are! Even though God covers us with His grace, we are still too focused on what others will think about us if they really knew our stuff.
When we allow ourselves to take the bait and compromise our lives, the enemy is just waiting to pounce on the idea that we’ve failed, that we are unworthy! Then the cycle shame kicks into high gear and becomes our life’s narrative, kicking us around on a daily basis.
Folks, here is the lie of the enemy: “If anyone finds out what you got going on in your life….you’re gonna be rejected!” We then believe that our behavior can change our identity! We then become the victim and shame makes its final grip on our lives.
As soon as the identity of “who I am” begins to make agreement with our behavior, the enemy can now fuel the fear! You will not be worthy of love! You will not be worthy of acceptance! You will be judged ridiculed and separated from those who can help you walk with you to your destiny.
Let me ask you something. All the stuff we are hiding for fear of being exposed…do you really think that God doesn’t already know? Do you really think He is going to be surprised?
Every journey begins with a first step. Are you ready to take your first step?
