Love the opening challenge sentence, “So. You think you’ve got yourself a good blog post.” This is a great challenge to keep in mind before I hit the ‘Publish’, because there are times when I rush to get a post out on my weekly cycle and don’t even come close to leveraging half of these essential ingredients.
‘Be authentic’ is my favorite! People typically can smell a snake oil salesperson or a poser a mile away so being authentic is important. Authenticity has an illusive quality. It’s like ‘Blink”, you know it when you see it. Authenticity is being truthful, honest, genuine, real, lack of falsehood or misrepresentation…its a condition of the heart. As a blogger the best thing you can do is to remember that its not about “you” its about “others”, the readers. Focus on providing your readers with quality content and information that will help them in some way or another. Something I learned along the way is to answer the question, “What’s in it for me?” because that’s what your readers are asking.
