Remember The Fallen

Remember The Fallen

For most of us, Memorial Day means the “unofficial kickoff” of summer when we go away or get together with loved ones to grill up some great food.

Not at all suggesting that there is anything wrong with this, but I challenge you to pause and think about what it means when a soldier dies fighting for your freedom. Think about the scene playing out in slow motion as the loved one of a fallen soldier hears that knock on the door.

Will you pause for a moment and remember the fallen brave as that familiar bugle sound plays in the background…”Taps”.

Here is a bit of history of Taps.

How Safe Is Your Fence?

How Safe Is Your Fence?

Our story begins with the desire to step into the freedom that God has given us.

Here is the rub…in this freedom we were given the choice to choose the life we wanted to live, but overtime our choices cost us our freedom. On this path to freedom — life happens, control kicks in fueled by fear and our trust quotient with God is effected.

If you’ve stepped into the pages of God’s word you’ve most likely encountered phrases like these. “Fear not” or “Do not fear” or “Have courage”, etc.

Did you know that there are over 100 commands that Jesus offered up in scripture and 20+ of them are related to fear?

Lets start the conversation here…what are you afraid of and why are you afraid of it?

What Lord Of The Rings Can Teach Us About Fellowship

What Lord Of The Rings Can Teach Us About Fellowship

There is a war being waged for the souls of men, for the family, for fatherhood, [fill in the blank]…

Before we rise up and engage in the war being waged, it is essential that we band together with a fellowship of people we trust to join with us in the battle. We see this theme played out in the in the epic battle of good against evil in The Lord of the Rings. The leaders of middle earth meet at Rivendell to strategize on how to destroy the ring and how to defeat Sauron. For good to triumph in middle earth, the ring had to be destroyed by throwing it into the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged.

Do You Have The Courage To Stand?

Do You Have The Courage To Stand?

Are you a follower of Jesus Christ? Have you noticed an increase in the hatred towards Christians and God in the world around you?

Since writing my book Heartstone: A Journey Out Of The Midnight Of My Soul, I have taken my story to the social space such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. It didn’t take long for people to reveal their hatred towards God.

I posted this on Easter, take a minute to check out some of the comments.

Paulo Coelho

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.
