Why Waldo And Bigfoot Are Better At Hide-N-Seek Than God

Why Waldo And Bigfoot Are Better At Hide-N-Seek Than God

Ever notice this pattern? People do bad stuff to us -> we retreat from life -> God where are you? -> we project our pain onto God!

Life sucks. I’m being bullied. I lost my job, my house, my car, fill in the blank______. He/she divorced me. I was abused physically and sexually. I could go on-and-on listing life’s hurts and pain.

When we feel the pain of life and the hurts of others, we blame God. God how could you let this happen? God, why did you do do this to me? God, where the @#!$$!! are you?

People continue to hurt us, the blame-God-game continues, we retreat and build walls of hate around us thinking that somehow they will protect us. How do we get to the place where we have so much hatred for God?

Men, It’s Time To Take A Stand Against Pornography!

Men, It’s Time To Take A Stand Against Pornography!

I have a question for you. If I told you, as a Christian man, that I had used pornography for its intended purpose, would you be more shocked that I had used it, or that I had admitted to it? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Pornography in America is big business. It’s everywhere. In fact, it’s invading, to the point of actually becoming part of, the very core of American culture, and it’s tearing this country apart. Many have come to think of it as so out of control, it’s beyond the realm of possibility to even think about reining it in. I disagree.

For years the teachings we’ve heard on pornography, what few sermons we’ve heard, and scientific studies that have come out on the subject, have focused on the harmful effect of it on the body, the marriage, the family, and the general degradation of morality in our society. While all these things may be true, the best efforts of the most well-meaning people out there have had very little, if no effect at all on the spread of it. The reason for this, in my humble opinion is two-fold.

First, it hasn’t been seen for what it truly is, and therefore, hasn’t been taken as seriously as it should have been. Secondly, good people have very simply remained silent; A lot of this having to do with our own shame in using it ourselves.

1 Major Thing You Didn’t Know About Success

1 Major Thing You Didn’t Know About Success

For most, our lives look great on the outside but are a complete mess on the inside. As we walk life out, we become really really good at hiding the mess of who we really are. You know, that big house, fancy car, designer clothes, that vacation house, fill in the blank ______. Not saying that all stuff is necessarily bad, but in the process of hiding behind all this stuff we not only become slaves to it — we get buried by it.

Most of us have a messy life whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. The good news…you’re in good company, just throw a dart anywhere in the Bible and you will find someone with a messy life.

My dart landed in the story of Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax-collector and was only mentioned in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 19:1-9). Most of us remember the story of him climbing a Sycamore tree to get a glimpse of Jesus, but not so much as an example of a messy life.

So, why is Zacchaeus a great reminder of our messy lives? Let’s take a deeper dive and explore this a bit more.

Why The Easiest Person To Deceive Is Yourself

Why The Easiest Person To Deceive Is Yourself

Can you remember a time in your life when you acted impulsively and later came to regret it? Maybe you impulsively ran out and bought a new car after being convinced from a TV commercial that it was exactly what you needed and soon regretted that decision because you really couldn’t make the payments. Maybe it was the mortgage you signed without reading it carefully because you needed to have that new mansion of a house with a swimming pool, a golf-course lawn, and all the furnishings to maintain your image — just to realize that you are now a slave to it. Maybe it was that new job you took because it paid more, but later you discovered the reality that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Whatever the decision may have been, you regretted it later.

If you go back to that greatest regret in life, what would it be? Think about that for a minute and then think about how could you have avoided it.

Should I have had that last drink? Should I have gone to lunch with that woman (as a married man)? Should I have watched that pornographic movie on that business trip? Should I have spent our life savings at the Black Jack table? Should I have gone to that party? Should I have (or not have) [fill in the blank]?

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

—Ephesians 5:15-17

Answering The Question, “Where Have All The Men Gone?” [Series]

Answering The Question, “Where Have All The Men Gone?” [Series]

“Man up!”, “Be a man!”, “Grow some balls!”, “He’s a real man.”, “Authentic manhood.”

These phrases (and more like them) echo in today’s culture and hidden behind those phrases is a question seems to haunt men in society today — “What does it mean to be a man? An authentic man?”

In today’s post modern culture the meaning and image of true masculinity is seriously getting diluted, tainted, watered-down and completely lost. Unfortunately the narrative that’s being played out today is ‘boys in men’s bodies’ with only a few wanting to be men…but not exactly knowing how, while others remain nonchalant.

Houston…we have a deficit of authentic manhood in today’s society! Seriously, where have all the men gone?

Lets answer that question.

An adventure is, by its nature, a thing that comes to us. It is a thing that chooses us, not a thing that we choose. -Chesterton

Cool Scripture

If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan? -Jeremiah 12:5 (NKJV)
