1 Major Thing You Didn’t Know About Success

1 Major Thing You Didn’t Know About Success

For most, our lives look great on the outside but are a complete mess on the inside. As we walk life out, we become really really good at hiding the mess of who we really are. You know, that big house, fancy car, designer clothes, that vacation house, fill in the blank ______. Not saying that all stuff is necessarily bad, but in the process of hiding behind all this stuff we not only become slaves to it — we get buried by it.

Most of us have a messy life whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. The good news…you’re in good company, just throw a dart anywhere in the Bible and you will find someone with a messy life.

My dart landed in the story of Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax-collector and was only mentioned in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 19:1-9). Most of us remember the story of him climbing a Sycamore tree to get a glimpse of Jesus, but not so much as an example of a messy life.

So, why is Zacchaeus a great reminder of our messy lives? Let’s take a deeper dive and explore this a bit more.

3 Things I Learned From A Golfer

3 Things I Learned From A Golfer

Was the end of a long day and I sat down down on the couch to decompress. Navigating the endless channels of ‘nothing to watch’ on cable, I stumbled on a movie called Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius

Bobby Jones was a child prodigy who became The Man.

A short-tempered, club-throwing youth, Jones turned into an even-dispositioned and unruffled champion. In the Golden Age of Sport, Jones took his place alongside such giants as Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Red Grange and Bill Tilden. From 1923 to 1929, the Georgia gentleman dominated golf, birdieing his way into this country’s heart by winning nine major championships.

Then in 1930, he won the Grand Slam, which one writer picturesquely called “the impregnable quadrilateral.” He was so popular that he was accorded a ticker-tape parade in New York — before he won the final two legs of the Slam.i

So, what did I learn from a golfer? Was it golf?

The Minimalist Guide To The Simple Life

The Minimalist Guide To The Simple Life

Ever notice that we default to “climbing the ladder” or “looking up the ladder?” Of course I am referring to life, work, wealth, fill in the blank ________. We want that next corporate position, that larger house or that new Jet Ski – don’t we?

Most of us spend our energy “looking up the ladder” and myopically dial into what others have. This becomes our comparative or our unit of measure on what we don’t have.

I was locked in this world dominated unit of measurement in my own life until I hit some rough waters. Yeah going through divorce and loosing almost everything can definitely changes ones perceptive, but do you know what really made me realize that this was a ridiculous unit of measurement?

Why “Game Of Thrones” Is Not An Original Idea

Why “Game Of Thrones” Is Not An Original Idea

We all have desires in life, but what happens when our desires are so self-serving that the ripple effect has a long reaching negative impact on others. I was reading about the story of King Zedekiah and I learned that Game of Thrones is not an original idea.

Let me frame up the story.
