Will You Walk The Ancient Paths?

Will You Walk The Ancient Paths?

I have been walking the road of life for almost 50 years, pressing into God and seeking council from wiser men of character who have traveled the ancient paths that Jeremiah talks about.

“Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it. And you will find rest for your souls.” -Jeremiah 6:16

Through good times, hardship and the fathering mentors God has placed in my path; I have discovered a treasure trove of counsel and insight I offer to share with other men who are courageously choosing to become wholehearted courageous men of God!

Men that want to take the “ancient paths”; the road less traveled. Men who want to lean into the Wisdom that God so wants to give them (Proverbs 2). Men who wants to walk blameless and who does what is righteous…and will never be shaken. Men who want to discover their authentic manhood in Jesus Christ.

Like the mentors that spoke into my life, Heartstone Journey is a place where I share my stories and my thoughts to help nourish others along the way on their own life path. Dallas Willard shares, “The most important thing in your life, is no what you do, it is who you become.”

Shake the dust off from your travels, choose to bust out of your life of mediocrity and start by breathing in this poem by Sir Frances Drake;

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

…and then, take the journey — the Heartstone Journey.
